Safari Overview

Experience the world-renowned Kruger National Park on a 4 Day Tented Kruger Park Safari with us. This wildlife safari gives you enough time to see most of the better known animals - perfect for the wildlife photography enthusiasts - and to share in other amazing sightings like baby hyenas chasing each other or fork-tailed drongos going after an insect!

You could also visit Three Rondavels in the Blyde River Canyon, Bourke's Luck Potholes and God’s Window along the Panorama Route, which offer some of the most magnificent scenery in the country! This optional excursion is not applicable to our 2 Day Kruger Park Safari though.

Delicious breakfasts and dinners give you ample time to get to know your fellow travelers and exchange stories. At night, we sit under the stars and listen to the sounds of the bush around us. Needless to say, as far as worthwhile Kruger park safari tours go, ours is one of the best!

What to Expect

Day 1: Gauteng to Kruger Park

We depart from Johannesburg in the early morning to allow for various collection points - should you require anymore information on our transfers to the Kruger Park, our team is always happy to assist. Our route takes us through the wide open spaces of the Highveld, down the escarpment and through the scenic Lowveld area. We stop for lunch en-route (own expense) and reach the Kruger National Park in the afternoon.

You will go out on your first Kruger Park safari (Sunset drive) after settling into your accommodation. A sunset drive affords you the opportunity to see nocturnal wildlife. The Kruger Park’s rangers are allowed to return after the normal gate closing times, and because this is not a private afternoon/night safari, other guests may be joining you on the drive. (Children under 6 years of age are not permitted on open vehicle game drives.)

A delicious three-course dinner will be served in our Dining Tent in the evening, at our camp. (Dinner included)

Days 2 & 3: A Full Day in the Kruger National Park

Kruger wildlife safaris are all about early mornings, and getting out there and seeing the animals! The time you go on your Kruger safari varies according to the seasons and camp gate opening times. We have tea or coffee with snacks before departing on the game drive. Your guide has an intimate knowledge of Kruger National Park, which contributes a great deal towards brilliant wildlife sightings!

Upon returning to camp, brunch will be ready. You’ll then have time to enjoy a swim, visit Kruger Park’s shop (which includes Africa-inspired curios, general food items and drinks for you to purchase, if you like), relax in your accommodation or take a walk around the camp. Also, be sure to bring your binoculars – the Kruger National Park is a bird watcher’s paradise!

After your leisure time, we set off on the afternoon Kruger safari. We conduct all our game drives in specially adapted 4×4 open safari vehicles to allow our guests the best possible experience. We then share safari stories and animal sightings over a tasty dinner served at our camp. (Breakfast & Dinner included)

Day 4: Kruger Park to Gauteng

The final day of your Kruger Park holiday will be your last chance to see the Big 5 safari animals that have eluded you thus far. After breakfast, we return to Johannesburg. The transfer back takes at least 6 hours and guests are advised to sleep over in Johannesburg on this night. (Breakfast included)

** Terms & Conditions apply ** **

Vehicles Used

Transfers from and to the airport, as well as to the Kruger National Park, is in a 12-seater bus, and game drives are guided and take place in open safari vehicles so as to offer the best possible game viewing experience. Our vehicles provide guests with the highest possible levels of safety and comfort.

Optional Extras

(Available on Day 3 of this safari)

Morning Walk - A walking safari experience the Kruger Park affords you the opportunity to experience the bush from a totally different perspective. You really do get up close and personal with Africa's wild animals, insects, trees and birds. Qualified trail guides take you on a 3-hour walk where there is chance you could come across Africa's Big 5 on foot. Please be advised however, that the focus is not on Big Five encounters, but rather smaller and often very interesting aspects of the bush that only a walk can offer. This activity is available at an additional rate of ZAR 570.00 per person and you need to pre-book it with your consultant when you confirm your safari with us. This activity is dependent on availability.

Panorama Route - Our full day Panorama Route day tour covers the best sights of this famous South African sightseeing route. We will include the Three Rondavels, Blyde River Canyon, Bourke's Luck Potholes, God's Window and the glass elevator near the town of Graskop. This day tour is available at an additional cost of ZAR 795.00 per person and needs to be pre-booked with your consultant when you confirm your safari with us. If you choose to do the Panorama Route, you forfeit your morning and afternoon game drive on your Kruger Park safari as there is not enough time to include both activities. You cannot book a Panorama Route tour whilst on safari. (Kindly note that this excursion is not available on the first or last day of your safari due to time constraints). All entry fees and the glass elevator are included in the price. Lunch is excluded.

Please note that optional extras that are pre-booked are non-refundable in the event that you decide to no longer participate in the activity.

Important Notes

On our Tented Kruger Park Safaris, we make use of facilities and accommodation situated inside the Kruger National Park and do not stay outside Kruger, unless forced to do so because of availability.

It is important to note that this is not an exclusive or private safari and there will probably be other guests joining you on the game drive vehicles, air-conditioned mini bus transfer vehicles as well as in the dining facility.

Please note that Sunset Drive times are subject to change and availability on the day. These drives are conducted by one of their rangers and in one of their vehicles. There will most likely be other guests on this game drive. Children under 6 years of age are not allowed on open safari vehicles.

Although we welcome children on our Kruger Park safaris, we reserve the right not to allow younger children on our normal game drives. This will entirely be at the guide’s discretion and is done to ensure a pleasurable Kruger safari for all our guests (including the parents). Should this be the case, a custom bush bumble (kiddies game drive) will be conducted after the normal game drive, especially for the kids. We do not offer babysitting services and, as such, one of the parents will have to stay behind to watch the children. Private safaris for families can be arranged at an extra fee.

Guests flying out of O.R. Tambo International Airport on the last day are reminded to not book any flights earlier than 19:00 (domestic) or 20:00 (international) in order to give us enough time to get you to the airport. We recommend that you rather stay over in Johannesburg if possible. Since we cannot guarantee our arrival time in Johannesburg on the last day, we will not be held responsible for reimbursements of flight tickets, should we arrive later than expected. Private transfers for guests with early flights can be arranged in advance, at an extra cost.
