Itinerary

Day 1: Gauteng to Kruger National Park

We leave on your Kruger Park safari from Johannesburg in the early morning. The route to Kruger Park takes us through the Highveld with its wide open spaces, down the escarpment and through the scenic Lowveld area. En-route to the Kruger National Park, we stop for lunch (to be purchased by you).

After settling into your accommodation at the park, you will go on your first Kruger safari – one that affords you the opportunity to see the African wildlife that are most active later on in the day.

Dinner will be served al fresco at our camp.

Day 2: Kruger Park to Private Lodge

After an early wake-up call, we’ll head to one of the world-renowned Private Game Reserves adjacent to the Kruger National Park in our closed, air-conditioned vehicle. You’ll receive a packed breakfast to enjoy on the way.

We arrive in time for your afternoon Greater Kruger safari, which will take place in one of the lodge's open game drive vehicles. Your exciting wildlife safari generally takes about 4 hours and extends into the early evening. Private Reserves are particularly famous for their unique game drive experiences and close sightings of wildlife. As always, we can't guarantee them, but your chances of seeing these incredible animals are very good in a Private Reserve!

In the evening, you'll enjoy dinner under the stars (weather permitting) and the day ends with chatter around an open fire, as we discuss our plans for the next day. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included)

Day 3: A Full Day in a Private Reserve

Private Lodges offer two wildlife safaris per day, during which your experienced game ranger and expert tracker will share their extensive knowledge and love for African wildlife with you. Thanks to the carefully planned and managed habituation process, animals and birds in the reserve have become used to having the safari vehicles in close proximity, without feeling threatened. This allows you to get really close to them and forms part of the appeal of the Private Game Reserves and Greater Kruger wildlife safaris!

After breakfast, guests are welcome to join a morning walk. The rest of the day is spent at leisure, relaxing in your accommodation or at the pool. Lunch is served around 14:00.

Mealtimes are a social affair, with dinner served under the stars (weather permitting) and only the freshest produce and ingredients are used. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included)

Day 4: Private Lodge to Gauteng

Your last day on this Greater Kruger safari begins with a delicious cup of coffee and is your last chance to try and find the animals you still haven't seen.

Upon returning from your wildlife safari, breakfast will be served. We then begin our journey back to Johannesburg and stop en-route for lunch (for your own expense). The transfer back takes at least 6 hours and guests are advised to sleep over in Johannesburg on this night. (Breakfast included)

Notes

It is important to note that this is not an exclusive or private wildlife safari and there will probably be other guests joining you on the game drive vehicles, air-conditioned mini bus transfer vehicles as well as in the dining facility.

The child policies vary from lodge to lodge. Some lodges do not accept children under 12 at all, while others gladly accept children but do not allow younger children on the open game drive vehicles for safety reasons. These lodges usually offer babysitting services at a nominal extra cost. Please be sure to enquire about this before making your reservation.

Guests flying out of O.R. Tambo International Airport on the last day are reminded to not book any flights earlier than 19:00 (domestic) or 20:00 (international) in order to give us enough time to get you to the airport. We recommend that you rather stay over in Johannesburg if possible. Since we cannot guarantee our arrival time in Johannesburg on the last day, we will not be held responsible for reimbursements of flight tickets, should we arrive later than expected. Private transfers for guests with early flights can be arranged in advance, at an extra fee.
