Your Itinerary

Day 1: Johannesburg to Kruger National Park

We leave on your Kruger National Park safari from Johannesburg in the early morning on your first day. The route to your Kruger safari takes us through many different areas, like the Highveld with its open fields and even via the incredibly-beautiful Lowveld area. En-route to Kruger Park, we stop for lunch (own expense).

Once you've settled into your accommodation, you will go on your first Kruger safari tour – one in which you'll be able to see the African wildlife that are most active at night, including some of the famous Big 5.

Afterwards, it'll be time for dinner, which is served at our camp by our very talented chefs, who will introduce the menu to you as well.

Day 2: A Full Day in the Kruger National Park

Kruger safaris are all about early mornings! We rise before then sun and are able to hopefully see the animals as they get up and get ready for the day. The time you leave on your wildlife safari varies and is dependant on the different seasons as well as camp gate opening times. We grab a cup of tea or coffee with snacks before we leave on the game drive, which takes around 3 to 4 hours. As with all our Kruger Park safaris, our guides know the park very well and are happy to share interesting information and facts with our guests, while they look for those memorable sightings.

When we return to the camp, brunch will be served. You’ll then have time to enjoy a swim at the camp pool, take a walk around the rest camp, relax in your accommodation or visit the Kruger Park shop, where you can purchase curios, general food items and drinks, water bottles, gifts and more! Also, bring your binoculars along as you're sure to see many amazing birds around camp.

Later on in the day, we'll set off on our afternoon Kruger wildlife safari, all of which are conducted in specially-adapted, 4×4 open safari vehicles to allow our guests the best possible wildlife viewing experience. We'll then share stories during dinner about our favourite sightings and what we hope to see on the rest of our Kruger Park safari. (Breakfast & Dinner included)

Day 3: Kruger Park to Private Lodge

After an early wake-up call, we’ll head to one of the many awesome Private Game Reserves adjacent to the Kruger National Park. Transfers are in closed, air-conditioned vehicle and you’ll receive a packed breakfast to enjoy on the way.

Once we've arrived, you'll settle into your accommodation and get ready for your afternoon Greater Kruger safari in one of the lodges open game drive vehicles. Your exciting wildlife safari generally takes around 4 hours and ends in the early evening. Private Game Reserves are particularly famous for their close-up sightings of wildlife, including predators,... so while they're not guaranteed, your chances of memorable sightings are still very good!

In the evening, we'll have dinner under the stars (weather permitting) and the day will end with stories around the open fire. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included)

Day 4: A Full Day in a Private Reserve

In general, you'll go on two wildlife safaris per day at a Private Lodge, where your experienced game ranger and expert tracker will share all that they know about African wildlife with you. The well-managed habituation process in private reserves ensures that animals and birds become used to having safari vehicles in close proximity, without feeling threatened. This is why vehicles are able to get really close to the wildlife and forms part of the appeal of the Private Game Reserves!

After breakfast, guests can opt to join the morning walk. The rest of the day is then spent at leisure, where you can relax in your room or soak up the sunshine by the pool. Lunch is served at around 14:00.

Breakfasts and dinners on your Greater Kruger safari are very social, and dinner is usually served under the stars (weather permitting) with only the freshest produce being used. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included)

Day 5: Private Game Reserve to Gauteng

You'll eagerly start your last day on your wildlife safari in the early morning, ready to see all the animals that you haven't as yet.

After your final safari, you'll have breakfast before beginning your journey back to Johannesburg. We'll also stop en-route for lunch (own expense). The transfer back takes at least 6 hours and guests are advised to sleep over in Johannesburg for this evening. (Breakfast included)

Notes

It is important to note that this is not a private wildlife safari and there will probably be other guests joining you on the game drive vehicles, air-conditioned mini bus transfer vehicles as well as in the dining facility.

The child policies vary from lodge to lodge. Some lodges do not accept children under 12 at all, while others gladly accept children but do not allow younger children on the open game drive vehicles for safety reasons. These lodges usually offer babysitting services at a nominal extra charge. Please be sure to enquire about this before making your reservation.

Guests flying out of O.R. Tambo International Airport on the last day are reminded to not book any flights earlier than 19:00 (domestic) or 20:00 (international) in order to give us enough time to get you to the airport. We recommend that you rather stay over in Johannesburg if possible. Since we cannot guarantee our arrival time in Johannesburg on the last day, we will not be held responsible for reimbursements of flight tickets, should we arrive later than expected. Private transfers for guests with early flights can be arranged in advance, at an extra charge.
