Safari Overview

Experience the world-renowned Kruger Park in all its glory with our Kruger Tented Safari!

Better still, all our Kruger safaris that are five days or longer include a SANParks Bush Walk, which allows you to enjoy the wonders of this national reserve first-hand! You can hope to spot a wide variety of wildlife on this safari, including the Big Five, kudu, bush buck, hyena, wild dog, cheetah and many stunning birds too!

Along with your unforgettable Kruger wildlife safari, you could also opt to visit God’s Window, Three Rondavels in the Blyde River Canyon along the Panorama Route as well as the glass elevator near the town of Graskop!

Delicious breakfasts and dinners also give you ample time to get to know your fellow travelers and exchange stories. At night, we get the opportunity to relax and listen to the sounds of the bush around us.

What to Expect

Day 1: Gauteng to the Kruger National Park

We leave on your Kruger Park safari from Johannesburg in the early morning to allow for various collection points. The route to your wildlife safari takes us through the Highveld with its wide open spaces, down the escarpment and through the scenic Lowveld area. En-route to Kruger Park, we stop for lunch (own expense).

You will go out on your first Kruger wildlife safari (Sunset drive) after settling into your accommodation. A sunset drive affords you the opportunity to see the nocturnal Kruger animals. The Kruger Park’s rangers are allowed to return after the normal gate closing times, and because this is not a private wildlife safari, other guests may be joining you on this drive. (Children under 6 years of age are not permitted on open vehicle game drives.)

As with all our Kruger safari tours, a delicious three-course dinner will be served at our camp, where guests will get to chat to their fellow travellers and reflect on and review the day's sightings. (Dinner included)

Days 2, 3 and 4: A Full Day in Kruger Park

Kruger safari tours are all about early mornings, and getting out there and seeing the animals! The time you go on your safari varies according to the seasons and camp gate opening times. We have tea or coffee with snacks before departing on the game drive which will take approximately 3 to 4 hours. Your guide has an intimate knowledge of Kruger Park, which contributes towards finding those unforgettable Big 5 sightings!

Walking through the bush offers guests the perfect opportunity to see this wildlife reserve in a completely new and unique way, and is a must-do.

On your return to camp, brunch will be ready. You’ll then have time to enjoy a swim or visit Kruger Park’s shop, which includes African curios, general food items and drinks, all of which is nearby. You can also take a walk around the camp, or simply relax in your chalet. Be sure to bring your binoculars because the Kruger National Park is a bird watcher’s paradise!

After your leisure time, we set off on your afternoon Kruger Park safari. We conduct all our safaris in specially adapted 4×4 open game drive vehicles to allow our guests the best possible vantage point. We then share safari stories during a delicious and authentically-South African dinner, served at our camp. (Breakfast & Dinner included)

Day 5: Kruger Park to Gauteng

The final day of your Kruger safari tour will be your last chance to see the Big Five animals that have eluded you thus far. After breakfast, we return to Johannesburg. The transfer back takes at least 6 hours and guests are advised to sleep over in Johannesburg on this night. (Breakfast included)

Morning Walk

A walk in the Kruger Park affords you the opportunity to experience the bush from a totally different perspective. You really do get up close and personal with Africa's wild animals, insects, trees and birds. Qualified trail guides take you on a 3-hour walk where there is chance you could come across Africa's Big 5 on foot. Please be advised however, the focus is not on Big Five encounters, but rather smaller and often very interesting aspects of the bush that only walking can offer. This activity is available at no extra fee but needs to be pre-booked with your consultant when you confirm your Kruger safari with us. This activity is also dependent on availability.

** Terms & Conditions apply ** **

Vehicles Used

Transfers from and to the airport, as well as to the Kruger National Park, is in a 12-seater bus, and game drives take place in open safari vehicles so as to offer the best possible wildlife viewing experience. The vehicles provide guests with the highest possible levels of safety and comfort

Optional Extras

Our full day Panorama Route day tour covers the best sights of this famous South African sightseeing route. We will include the Three Rondavels, Blyde River Canyon, Bourke's Luck Potholes, God's Window and the glass elevator near the town of Graskop. This tour is available at an additional cost of ZAR 795.00 per person and needs to be pre-booked with your consultant when you confirm your safari with us. If you choose to do the Panorama Route, you forfeit your morning and afternoon drive in the Kruger Park as there is not enough time to include both activities. You cannot book a Panorama Route tour whilst on your Kruger safari. (Kindly note that this excursion is not available on the first or last day of your safari due to time constraints). All entry fees and the glass elevator are included in the cost. Lunch is excluded.

Please note that optional extras that are pre-booked are non-refundable in the event that you decide to no longer participate in the activity.

Important Notes

On our Camping Kruger Safaris, we make use of facilities and accommodation situated inside the Kruger National Park and do not stay outside Kruger, unless forced to do so because of availability.

It is important to note that this is not a private safari and there will probably be other guests joining you on the game drive vehicles, air-conditioned mini bus transfer vehicles as well as in the dining facility.

Please note that Sunset Drive times are subject to change and availability on the day. These drives are conducted by one of their rangers and in one of their vehicles. They are not exclusive and there will most likely be other guests on this drive. Children under 6 years of age are not allowed on open safari vehicles.

Although we welcome children on our Kruger Park safaris, we reserve the right not to allow younger children on our normal game drives. This will entirely be at the guide’s discretion and is done to ensure a pleasurable Kruger safari for all our guests (including the parents). Should this be the case, a custom bush bumble (kiddies game drive) will be conducted after the normal game drive, especially for the kids. We do not offer babysitting services and, as such, one of the parents will have to stay behind to watch the children. Private safaris to Kruger Park for families can be arranged at an extra charge.

Guests flying out of O.R. Tambo International Airport on the last day are reminded to not book any flights earlier than 19:00 (domestic) or 20:00 (international) in order to give us enough time to get you to the airport. We recommend that you rather stay over in Johannesburg if possible. Since we cannot guarantee our arrival time in Johannesburg on the last day, we will not be held responsible for reimbursements of flight tickets, should we arrive later than expected. Private transfers for guests with early flights can be arranged in advance, at an extra charge.
