Safari Overview

Experience the world-renowned Kruger National Park on our 4 day Budget Kruger Park Safari! You’ll have enough time to see most of the better known wildlife, and to share in other amazing sightings, like a warthog taking a mud bath or a lioness cuddling her cubs.

You could also visit Three Rondavels in the Blyde River Canyon, God’s Window, Bourke's Luck Potholes and more along the Panorama Route, which offers some of the amazing sights in the country, on a day tour! This optional excursion is definitely a must-do while in South Africa, but is not applicable to our 2 Day Kruger Park safaris and is at an additional cost, which we can give you more information on, when you enquire.

Better still, the delicious breakfasts and dinners that our chefs take great care to prepare, give you more than enough time to get to know your fellow guests. At night, we gather together in our Dining Tent, sample the best South African cuisine and take in the sounds of the Kruger bush.

What to Expect

Day 1: Johannesburg to Kruger National Park

We leave on your Kruger Park safari in the early morning, from our departure point in Johannesburg. The route we use takes us through the Highveld, down the escarpment and through the Lowveld area, taking you past open fields, towns and even past rolling green mountains. On our way to the Kruger National Park, we stop for lunch (own expense).

With our safaris to Kruger Park, your first game drive is usually, which you'll embark on after settling into your accommodation when you get to the park. The great thing about a Sunset Drive is that it affords you the opportunity to not only see the Kruger animals that are active at night, the SANParks' rangers are also allowed to return after the normal gate closing times. This is not a private Kruger safari, so it's important to note that other guests will be joining you on the drive. (Children under 6 years of age are not permitted on open vehicle drives.)

To end off day one of your exciting Kruger safari tour, a delicious dinner will be served at our camp in the evening.

Days 2 & 3: A Full Day in Kruger Park

Kruger Park safaris are all about early mornings, which means phenomenal photographs of the sun rising over the bush as well as of wildlife sightings! The time you go on your wildlife safari varies according to the seasons and camp gate opening times, however there's always time for a quick cup of tea or coffee and snacks, before we leave. Your guided game drive usually takes approximately 3 to 4 hours, and is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the Kruger, the animals that call it home and more!

It'll then be time for brunch when you return to camp. You’ll also have time, after this, to relax in your accommodations, cool down at the swimming pool, visit the curio shop or explore the camp - believe us when we say that there are plenty of beautiful birds and cute critters to be found inside the camp itself.

After your leisure time, we'll go on your afternoon Kruger Park safari, which is conducted in specially adapted, 4×4 open game drive vehicles. They allow our guests to enjoy the best possible vantage point on safari. We'll then share African safari stories with one another during and after a tasty dinner, served at our camp. (Breakfast & Dinner included)

Day 4: Kruger Park to Gauteng

The last day of your Kruger Park safari will be your final opportunity to see the Big 5 safari animals that have eluded you. After a filling and hearty breakfast, we return to Johannesburg. The transfer back takes at least 6 hours and guests are advised to sleep over in Johannesburg on this night. (Breakfast included)

** Terms & Conditions apply ** **

Vehicles Used

Transfers from and to the airport, as well as to the Kruger National Park, is in a 12-seater bus, and game drives take place in open safari vehicles, offering guests the ultimate wildlife safari experience. Our vehicles also provide guests with the highest possible levels of safety and comfort.

Optional Extras

(Available on Day 3 of this safari)

Morning Walk - A walk in the Kruger Park affords you the opportunity to experience it from a completely unique perspective. You get up close and personal with the reserve's wild animals, insects, trees and birds. The walk is conducted by qualified trail guides that take you on a 3-hour experience, where you could come across Africa's Big Five on foot. Remember though, the focus is not on Big 5 encounters, but more smaller and interesting aspects of the bush that only a walk can offer. This activity is available at an additional ZAR 570.00 per person and needs to be pre-booked with your consultant when you confirm your Kruger safari with us. This activity is also dependent on availability.

Panorama Route - Our full day Panorama Route tour covers the best sights of this popular sightseeing route. We have included God's Window, Three Rondavels, the Blyde River Canyon, Bourke's Luck Potholes and the Graskop Gorge Lift. This day trip is available at an additional cost of ZAR 795.00 per person and needs to be pre-booked with your consultant when you confirm your Kruger Park safari with us. If you choose to do the Panorama Route, you forfeit your morning and afternoon game drives in Kruger Park for that day, as there is not enough time to do both activities. Please note that you cannot book a Panorama Route tour whilst on safari. (This excursion is not available on the first or last day of your Kruger wildlife safari due to time constraints). All entry fees and the glass elevator are included in the price. Lunch is excluded.

Please note that optional extras that are pre-booked are non-refundable in the event that you decide to no longer participate in the activity.

Important Notes

On our Kruger Budget Safaris, we make use of facilities and accommodation situated inside the Kruger National Park and do not stay outside Kruger, unless forced to do so because of availability.

It is important to note that this is not a private safari and there will probably be other guests joining you on the game drive vehicles, air-conditioned mini bus transfer vehicles as well as in the dining facility.

Please note that Sunset Drive times are subject to change and availability on the day. These drives are conducted by one of their rangers and in one of their vehicles. There will most likely be other guests on this drive. Children under 6 years of age are not allowed on open safari vehicles.

Although we welcome children on our Kruger Park safaris, we reserve the right not to allow younger children on our normal game drives. This will entirely be at the guide’s discretion and is done to ensure a pleasurable Kruger safari for all our guests (including the parents). Should this be the case, a custom bush bumble (kiddies game drive) will be conducted after the normal game drive, especially for the kids. We do not offer babysitting services and, as such, one of the parents will have to stay behind to watch the children. Private safaris for families can be arranged at an extra charge.

Guests flying out of O.R. Tambo International Airport on the last day are reminded to not book any flights earlier than 19:00 (domestic) or 20:00 (international) in order to give us enough time to get you to the airport. We recommend that you rather stay over in Johannesburg if possible. Since we cannot guarantee our arrival time in Johannesburg on the last day, we will not be held responsible for reimbursements of flight tickets, should we arrive later than expected. Private transfers for guests with early flights can be arranged in advance, at an extra cost.
