Safari Overview ↓
Encounter South Africa’s marvellous Big Five on a 3 Day Classic Kruger Park Safari, which includes three exciting open vehicle, wildlife safaris and a SANParks Sunset Drive where you can see the Kruger National Park’s nocturnal wildlife. As we always say here in the bush, the more time you spend on a Kruger wildlife safari, the better your chances of coming across a memorable sighting!
To further complement your stay, yummy, wholesome breakfasts and dinners give you enough time to chat to and get to know your fellow travelers. Evenings in the Kruger are especially delightful with the starry sky above you and sounds of the bush around you.
What to Expect ↓
Day 1: Gauteng to Kruger National Park
On the morning of your transfer to Kruger Park, guests that are not staying at Outlook Lodge O.R. Tambo in Johannesburg will be picked up from their specific collection point between 06:00 and 07:00. We begin our journey to the park soon after.
During the drive – which takes several hours – guests will get to see a good mix of scenery, including urban areas, open fields and mountainous terrain. On the way to the Kruger, we will stop for lunch (own expense) and allow guests to stretch their legs.
Once you arrive at our camp, located inside the Kruger, you’ll be welcomed by the camp manager before being taken to your chalet. Your first game drive (unless otherwise stated) is a SANParks Sunset Drive, which is done by SANParks in their vehicle. What’s great about this drive is the fact that SANParks’ guides are allowed to return after the gate closes, which allows you to try and find the wildlife that are mostly (or only) active at night. (With this, it’s important to note that children that are six-years-old or younger are not permitted on open vehicle drives.)
After your drive, you’ll join your fellow Kruger wildlife safari guests for a delicious dinner. Chat to your fellow guests and guides about what you saw on your drive and take in the beauty of the Park at night. (Dinner Included)
Day 2: A Full Day in the Kruger National Park
Early starts are an essential part of your Kruger Park safari. Having said this, the exact time that you leave on your game drive is dependent on camp gate opening times (which varies depending on the season). You’ll grab a quick cup of tea or coffee and a snack before leaving the camp. During your drive, which is usually about 3 to 4 hours long, guests will get to learn more about the Park, the wildlife and the flora, as well as try and spot the Big Five!
Then it’ll be time for a tasty brunch back at the camp, followed by some leisure time. Most Camps have a swimming pool, so guests can go for a swim, pick up a few curios at the Park’s shop, catch up on some much-needed sleep or take a leisurely stroll around the camp.
Your afternoon Kruger wildlife safari is with us in our specially-adapted, open game drive vehicle, where your guide will use their knowledge of the Park to try and find the sightings that you hope to experience.
As per the previous evening, dinner takes place in at your chalet.(Breakfast & Dinner Included)
Day 3: Kruger Park to Gauteng
The last day of your Kruger Park safari begins with an early morning game drive, where you’ll, hopefully, be able to find the wildlife that you have not yet seen. On your return to camp, guests will enjoy a tasty breakfast before the journey back to Johannesburg. The drive takes approximately 6 hours, which is why guests are advised to stay over in Johannesburg on this night. (Breakfast Included)
** Terms & Conditions apply ** Valid from 1 Jan 2019 – 31 Dec 2019 only. **
Vehicles Used ↓
Get ready to travel from one location to another in complete safety and comfort! Your transportation to and from the airport and to the Kruger National Park is a closed air-conditioned vehicle. On your Kruger safari, game drives are done in open safari vehicles, which really enhances your game viewing experience.
Optional Extras ↓
(Available on Day 3 of this safari)
Morning Walk - A walk in the Kruger Park affords you the opportunity to experience the bush from a totally different perspective. You really do get up close and personal with Africa's wild animals, insects, trees and birds. Qualified trail guides take you on a 3-hour walk where there is chance you could come across Africa's Big 5 on foot. Please be advised however, the focus is not on Big 5 encounters, but rather smaller and often very interesting aspects of the bush that only a walk can offer. This activity is available at an additional ZAR R630.00 per person and needs to be pre-booked with your consultant when you confirm your safari with us. This activity is dependent on availability.
We will include the Three Rondavels, Blyde River Canyon, Bourke's Luck Potholes, God's Window and the glass elevator near the town of Graskop. This tour is available at an additional cost of ZAR 795.00 per person and needs to be pre-booked with your consultant when you confirm your safari with us. If you choose to do the Panorama Route, you forfeit your morning and afternoon drive in the Kruger Park as there is not enough time to include both activities. You cannot book a Panorama Route tour whilst on safari. (Kindly note that this excursion is not available on the first or last day of your safari due to time constraints). All entry fees and the glass elevator are included in the price. Lunch is excluded.
Please note that optional extras that are pre-booked are non-refundable in the event that you decide to no longer participate in the activity.
Important Notes ↓
On our Kruger Classic Safaris, we make use of facilities and accommodation situated inside the Kruger National Park and do not stay outside Kruger, unless forced to do so because of availability.
It is important to note that this is not a private safari and there will probably be other guests joining you on the game drive vehicles, air-conditioned mini bus transfer vehicles as well as in the dining facility.
Please note that Sunset Drive times are subject to change and availability on the day. These drives are conducted by SANParks, by one of their rangers and in one of their vehicles. There will most likely be other guests on this drive. Children under 6 years of age are not allowed on SANParks’ open safari vehicles.
Although we welcome children on our Kruger Park safaris, we reserve the right not to allow younger children on our normal game drives. This will entirely be at the guide’s discretion and is done to ensure a pleasurable Kruger safari for all our guests (including the parents). Should this be the case, a bush bumble (kiddies game drive) will be conducted after the normal game drive, especially for the kids. We do not offer babysitting services and, as such, one of the parents will have to stay behind to watch the children. Private safaris for families can be arranged at an extra charge.
Guests flying out of O.R. Tambo International Airport on the last day are reminded to not book any flights earlier than 19:00 (domestic) or 20:00 (international) in order to give us enough time to get you to the airport. We recommend that you rather stay over in Johannesburg if possible. Since we cannot guarantee our arrival time in Johannesburg on the last day, we will not be held responsible for reimbursements of flight tickets, should we arrive later than expected. Guests flying out of Nelspruit on the last day may, depending on their flight details. Private transfers for guests with early flights can be arranged in advance, at an extra charge.
