Encounter South Africa’s iconic Big Five on a 3 Day Classic Kruger Park Safari
You will experience the Kruger National Park’s huge variety of wildlife on four exciting open vehicle wildlife safaris.
Our experienced guides will be with you every step of the way to help you spot South Africa’s famous Big 5, namely the lion, buffalo, leopard, rhino and elephant as well as numerous species.
What to Expect ↓
Day 1: Gauteng to Kruger National Park
On the morning of your transfer to Kruger Park, guests that are not staying at African VistaLodge O.R. Tambo in Johannesburg will be picked up from their specific collection point between 06:00 and 07:00. We begin our journey to the park soon after.
During the drive – which takes several hours – guests will get to see a good mix of scenery, including urban areas, open fields and mountainous terrain. On the way to the Kruger, we will stop for lunch (own expense) and allow guests to stretch their legs.
Once you arrive at our camp, located inside the Kruger, you’ll be welcomed by the camp manager before being taken to your chalet. Your first game drive (unless otherwise stated) is, which is done by SANParks in their vehicle. What’s great about this drive is the fact that guides are allowed to return after the gate closes, which allows you to try and find the wildlife that are mostly (or only) active at night. (With this, it’s important to note that children that are six-years-old or younger are not permitted on open vehicle drives.)
After your drive, you’ll join your fellow Kruger wildlife safari guests for a delicious dinner. Chat to your fellow guests and guides about what you saw on your drive and take in the beauty of the Park at night. (Dinner Included)
Day 2: A Full Day in the Kruger National Park
Early starts are an essential part of your Kruger Park safari. Having said this, the exact time that you leave on your game drive is dependent on camp gate opening times (which varies depending on the season). You’ll grab a quick cup of tea or coffee and a snack before leaving the camp. During your drive, which is usually about 3 to 4 hours long, guests will get to learn more about the Park, the wildlife and the flora, as well as try and spot the Big Five!
Then it’ll be time for a tasty brunch back at the camp, followed by some leisure time. Most Camps have a swimming pool, so guests can go for a swim, pick up a few curios at the Park’s shop, catch up on some much-needed sleep or take a leisurely stroll around the camp.
Your afternoon Kruger wildlife safari is with us in our specially-adapted, open game drive vehicle, where your guide will use their knowledge of the Park to try and find the sightings that you hope to experience.
As per the previous evening, dinner takes place in at your chalet.(Breakfast & Dinner Included)
Day 3: Kruger Park to Gauteng
The last day of your Kruger Park safari begins with an early morning game drive, where you’ll, hopefully, be able to find the wildlife that you have not yet seen. On your return to camp, guests will enjoy a tasty breakfast before the journey back to Johannesburg. The drive takes approximately 6 hours, which is why guests are advised to stay over in Johannesburg on this night. (Breakfast Included)
