Accommodation

Accommodation on our Kruger Budget Safari is in huts with beds, linen, towels and soap. Ablutions are shared and serviced regularly. The huts also have a small fridge and mosquito proofing on the doors and windows.

Safari Overview

Be amazed by a variety of incredible animals like elephants, buffalo, lions, hippos, leopards, hyena, kudu, giraffe, zebra and so much more on three open vehicle wildlife safaris , on this 3 Day Kruger Park safari.

You can also opt to embark on a day tour and visit Three Rondavels in the Blyde River Canyon and God’s Window along the Panorama Route, instead of joining the game drives on that day (this is not applicable to our 2 Day Kruger National Park safaris though), however, this tour must be pre-booked and is at an extra cost.

Delicious breakfasts and dinners give you ample time to get to know your fellow travelers and to exchange stories about the wildlife sightings you experienced that day. With your budget accommodation, game drives and perfectly-prepared meals taken care of, all that's left for you to do is make the most of your Kruger Park adventure!

What to Expect

Day 1: Johannesburg to Kruger National Park

We leave on your Kruger safari from Johannesburg in the early morning - you'll receive more information on this when you book your safari. The route to Kruger Park takes us through the Highveld with its wide open spaces, down the escarpment and through the stunning and scenic Lowveld area. En-route to the Kruger National Park, we stop for lunch (own expense).

You will go out on your first Kruger Park safari (Sunset drive) after settling into your accommodation. This is the perfect opportunity to see the reserve's nocturnal wildlife. SANParks' rangers are allowed to return after the scheduled gate closing times, and because this is not a private Kruger wildlife safari, other guests may be joining you on the game drive. (Children under 6 years of age are not permitted on open vehicle drives.)

A three-course dinner will then be served in the evening, at our camp, where our chefs will introduce themselves as well as what's on the menu for dinner.

Day 2: A Full Day in Kruger Park

Kruger Park safaris are all about early mornings, and getting out there and seeing the animals! The time you go on your wildlife safari varies according to the seasons and camp gate opening times. You'll get to have tea or coffee with snacks before going on your game drive, which will take around 3 to 4 hours. The Kruger National Park has a variety of incredible animals and birdlife, which you'll get to learn more about on our drives... not to mention all the Insta-worthy photography opportunities you'll come across.

On your return to camp, brunch will be ready. After this, you'll have some leisure time, which you can use to enjoy a swim at the camp pool, visit Kruger Park’s shop - where you can find African curios, general food items and drinks, take a walk around the camp, or simply relax in your accommodations. We also always encourage our guests to bring binoculars – as we said before, the Kruger National Park is a bird watcher’s paradise!

After this, we set off on your afternoon Kruger wildlife safari. All our Kruger safaris are conducted in specially-adapted, open game drive vehicles to allow our guests the best possible vantage point. We then share our exciting sighting and safari stories during a delicious dinner, served at our camp. (Breakfast & Dinner included)

Day 3: Kruger Park to Gauteng

The final day of your Kruger Park safari will be your last chance to see the Big 5 safari animals that you have not seen as yet. After breakfast, we return to Johannesburg. The transfer back takes at least 6 hours and guests are advised to sleep over in Johannesburg on this night. (Breakfast included)

** Terms & Conditions apply ** **

Vehicles Used

Transfers from and to the airport, as well as to the Kruger National Park, is in a 12-seater bus, and game drives take place in open game drive vehicles, offering the best possible viewing experience. The vehicles provide guests with the highest possible levels of safety and comfort.

Optional Extras

(Available on Day 3 of this safari)

Morning Walk - A walk in Kruger Park affords you the opportunity to experience the bush from a totally different perspective. You really do get up close and personal with Africa's wild animals, insects, trees and birds. You're taken on a 3-hour guided walk, with qualified trail guides, with the chance that you could also come across Africa's Big 5 on foot. However, the focus of this walking tour is not on Big 5 encounters, but rather smaller and often very interesting aspects of the bush that only a walk can offer. This activity is available at an additional cost of ZAR 570.00 per person and needs to be pre-booked with your consultant when you confirm your Kruger Park safari with us. This activity is also dependent on availability.

Panorama Route - Our full day Panorama Route day tour covers the best sights of this stunning and well-known South African route. Included in our tour is the Three Rondavels, Blyde River Canyon, Bourke's Luck Potholes, God's Window and the glass elevator near the town of Graskop. This day tour is available at an additional fee of ZAR 795.00 per person and needs to be pre-booked with your consultant when you confirm your Kruger safari with us. If you choose to do the Panorama Route, you forfeit your morning and afternoon game drives in the Kruger Park as there is not enough time to include both activities. You cannot book a Panorama Route tour whilst on safari. (Kindly note that this excursion is not available on the first or last day of your safari due to time constraints). All entry fees and the glass elevator are included in the price. Lunch is excluded.

Please note that optional extras that are pre-booked are non-refundable in the event that you decide to no longer participate in the activity.

Included

  • Professional drivers/guides (FGASA registered – Field Guides Association of Southern Africa)
  • Meals as specified per itinerary
  • All game drives in the Kruger National Park are in an open safari vehicle.
  • Sunset Drive (All Kruger Park safari guests must be 6 years or older)
  • All entry fees and daily conservation levies
  • Accommodation as per chosen option

Excluded

  • Meals not specified in itinerary
  • Pick up and drop off in Johannesburg/Pretoria
  • Items of a personal nature
  • Gratuities

Important Notes

On our Kruger Budget Safaris, we make use of facilities and accommodation situated inside the Kruger National Park and do not stay outside Kruger, unless forced to do so because of availability.

It is important to note that this is not a private safari and there will probably be other guests joining you on the game drive vehicles, air-conditioned mini bus transfer vehicles as well as in the dining facility.

Please note that Sunset Drive times are subject to change and availability on the day. These drives are conducted by one of their rangers and in one of their vehicles. There will most likely be other guests on this drive. Children under 6 years of age are not allowed on open safari vehicles.

Although we welcome children on our Kruger Park safaris, we reserve the right not to allow younger children on our normal game drives. This will entirely be at the guide’s discretion and is done to ensure a pleasurable Kruger safari for all our guests (including the parents). Should this be the case, a custom bush bumble (kiddies game drive) will be conducted after the normal game drive, especially for the kids. We do not offer babysitting services and, as such, one of the parents will have to stay behind to watch the children. Private safaris for families can be arranged at an extra charge.

Guests flying out of O.R. Tambo International Airport on the last day are reminded to not book any flights earlier than 19:00 (domestic) or 20:00 (international) in order to give us enough time to get you to the airport. We recommend that you rather stay over in Johannesburg if possible. Since we cannot guarantee our arrival time in Johannesburg on the last day, we will not be held responsible for reimbursements of flight tickets, should we arrive later than expected. Private transfers for guests with early flights can be arranged in advance, at an extra cost.
