Day 1: Gauteng to Kruger Park
We leave on your Kruger National Park safari from Johannesburg in the early morning to allow for various collection points. The route to your Kruger safari takes us through the Highveld with its wide open spaces, down the escarpment and through the scenic Lowveld area. En-route to Kruger Park, we stop for lunch (own expense).
After settling into your accommodation, you will go on your first Kruger wildlife safari – a SANParks Sunset Drive. The Sunset Drive affords you the opportunity to see nocturnal African wildlife. The Kruger Park’s rangers are also allowed to return after the normal gate closing times. Remember, this is not a private Kruger safari so other guests may be joining you on the drive. (Children under 6 years of age are not permitted on open vehicle drives.)
Dinner will be served al fresco at our camp – wine is served with dinner but guests are welcome to bring along additional/alternative drinks which can be purchased at the Kruger National Park’s shop.
Day 2: A Full Day in the Kruger National Park
Kruger safaris are all about early mornings, and getting out there and seeing the animals! The time you go on your wildlife safari varies according to the seasons and camp gate opening times. We have tea or coffee with snacks before departing on the game drive, which will take approximately 3 to 4 hours. Your guide also has an intimate knowledge of Kruger Park, which contributes a great deal towards brilliant sightings!
Brunch will be ready when we return to the camp. You’ll then have time to enjoy a swim, take a walk around the camp, relax in your chalet or visit Kruger Park’s shop, which includes African curios, general food items and drinks. Also, be sure to bring your binoculars as Kruger Park is a bird watcher’s paradise!
After your leisure time, we set off on your afternoon Kruger wildlife safari. We conduct all our game drives in specially adapted 4×4 open safari vehicles to allow our guests the best possible vantage point.
We share stories under the stars after a scrumptious dinner served at our camp.
(Breakfast & Dinner included)
Day 3: Kruger Park to Private Lodge
After an early wake-up call, we’ll head to one of the exciting Private Game Reserves adjacent to the Kruger National Park in our closed, air-conditioned vehicle. You’ll receive a packed breakfast before you go.
We arrive in time for your afternoon Greater Kruger safari in one of the Private Lodge’s open game drive vehicles. Your exciting wildlife safari generally takes about 4 hours and extends into the early evening. Private Game Reserves are particularly famous for their close-up sightings of predators and while we cannot guarantee these sightings, your chances of seeing these magnificent animals are very good!
Dinner is served under the stars (weather permitting) and the day ends with stories around the open fire and planning for the next day.
(Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included)
Day 4: A Full Day in a Private Reserve
Private Lodges offer two wildlife safaris per day, during which your experienced game ranger and expert tracker will share their extensive knowledge and love for African wildlife with you. Thanks to the carefully planned and managed habituation process, animals and birds in the reserve have become used to having the safari vehicles in close proximity, without feeling threatened. This allows you to get really close to them and forms part of the appeal of the Private Game Reserves and Greater Kruger wildlife safaris!
After breakfast, guests are welcome to join the morning walk. The rest of the day is spent at leisure, relaxing comfortably in your room or soaking up the sunshine by the pool. Lunch is served around 14:00.
Mealtimes on your Greater Kruger safari are a social affair, with dinner served under the stars (weather permitting). Only the freshest produce is used and is served with the local wines that South Africa is famous for.
(Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included)
Day 5: Private Game Reserve to Gauteng
An early wake-up and a strong cup of coffee starts your last day on your wildlife safari and is your final opportunity to experience the magic that only the African bush can offer!
After your morning Greater Kruger wildlife safari, breakfast is served. We then begin our journey back to Johannesburg and stop en-route for lunch (own expense). The drive back takes at least 6 hours and guests are advised to sleep over in Johannesburg on this night.
