Itinerary

Day 1: Gauteng to Kruger Park

We depart from Johannesburg in the early morning to allow for various collection points. Our route takes us through the wide open spaces of the Highveld, down the escarpment and through the scenic Lowveld area. We stop for lunch en-route (own expense) and reach the Kruger National Park in the afternoon.

You will go out on your first Kruger safari (a SANParks Sunset Drive) after settling into your accommodation. A sunset drive affords you the opportunity to see nocturnal wildlife. The Kruger Park’s rangers are allowed to return after the normal gate closing times, and because this is not a private Kruger safari, other guests may be joining you on the drive. (Children under 6 years of age are not permitted on open vehicle drives.)

A three-course dinner will be served al fresco in the evening (weather permitting), at our camp. Wine is served with dinner but guests are welcome to bring along additional/alternative drinks which can be purchased at Kruger Park’s shop.
(Dinner included)

Days 2 & 3: A Full Day in Kruger Park

Kruger wildlife safaris are all about early mornings, and getting out there and seeing the animals! The time you go on your Kruger safari varies according to the seasons and camp gate opening times. We have tea or coffee with snacks before departing on the game drive. Your guide has an intimate knowledge of Kruger National Park, which contributes a great deal towards brilliant sightings!

Upon returning to camp, brunch will be ready. You’ll then have time to enjoy a swim, visit Kruger Park’s shop, which includes African curios, general food items and drinks, relax in your chalet or take a walk around the camp. Also, be sure to bring your binoculars – the Kruger National Park is a bird watcher’s paradise!

After your leisure time, we set off on the afternoon Kruger safari. We conduct all our game drives in specially adapted 4×4 open safari vehicles to allow our guests the best possible vantage point. We then share African safari stories under the stars after a scrumptious dinner served at our camp.
(Breakfast & Dinner included)

Day 4: Kruger Park to Gauteng

The final day of your Kruger Park experience will be your last chance to see the Big 5 safari animals that have eluded you thus far. After breakfast, we return to Johannesburg. The drive back takes at least 6 hours and guests are advised to sleep over in Johannesburg on this night.
(Breakfast included)

The Panorama Route (optional excursion)

We offer an optional excursion to visit select attractions along the Panorama Route in all of our Kruger safaris that are three days or longer, like the Blyde River Canyon, Three Rondavels, Lisbon Falls and God’s Window. This excursion is available free of charge, and replaces your game drives for that day. It will be coordinated by our staff while you are on your Kruger Park safari with us. (Kindly note that this excursion is not available on the first or last day of your Camping Kruger Safari due to time constraints.)

Notes

On our Camping Kruger Safaris, we make use of facilities and accommodation situated inside the Kruger National Park and do not stay outside Kruger, unless forced to do so because of availability.

It is important to note that this is not a private Kruger wildlife safari and there will probably be other guests joining you on the game drive vehicles, air-conditioned mini bus transfer vehicles as well as in the dining facility.

Please note that Sunset Drive times are subject to change and availability on the day. These drives are conducted by SANParks, by one of their rangers and in one of their vehicles. There will most likely be other guests on this drive. Children under 6 years of age are not allowed on SANParks’ open safari vehicles.

Although we welcome children on our Kruger Park safaris, we reserve the right not to allow younger children on our normal game drives. This will entirely be at the guide’s discretion and is done to ensure a pleasurable Kruger safari for all our guests (including the parents). Should this be the case, a bush bumble (kiddies game drive) will be conducted after the normal game drive, especially for the kids. We do not offer babysitting services and, as such, one of the parents will have to stay behind to watch the children. Private safaris for families can be arranged at an extra charge.

Guests flying out of O.R. Tambo International Airport on the last day are reminded to not book any flights earlier than 19:00 (domestic) or 20:00 (international) in order to give us enough time to get you to the airport. We recommend that you rather stay over in Johannesburg if possible. Since we cannot guarantee our arrival time in Johannesburg on the last day, we will not be held responsible for reimbursements of flight tickets, should we arrive later than expected. Guests flying out of Nelspruit on the last day may, depending on their flight details, not have enough time to do the Panorama Route. Private transfers for guests with early flights can be arranged in advance, at an extra charge.

Wonderful 3 Day Safari

I went on Safari with Outlook Safaris in June last year on part of a year out. Everything about the company was perfect, even before booking everything was very well taken care of. When I initially emailed with questions I was replied to very quickly and all the information I received was very useful, Robert was very patient with me. The drivers who picked me up in Jo’Burg were very friendly and professional and made the journey up to the Kruger Park very pleasant. I stayed in the most basic accommodation provided but it had all I needed including a fan and heater because the temperature varied so much. The Skukuza Park is stunning, with beautiful birds, baboons all wandering around. The game drives were amazing.

Awesome Experience

I just want to say that this was one of the most awesome experiences I’ve had. From the moment I first arrived until the sad last day I had to leave was amazing. Moss driving our group to Kruger National Park that first morning. Not sure if it was the early hour, but everyone was quiet and either looking out of the window, listening to their ipod, or getting some more sleep. I wasn’t sure what to expect. After our first stop for gas and snack some conversations started. By the end of the trip, I really missed seeing everyone every day and sharing those wonderful memories. I had such a good time building friendships and sharing laughs. I think I enjoyed making those new friends as much as seeing all of those wonderful animals in their own environment.

Highly Recommended

Both my husband and myself have traveled extensively and have had unquestionably one of the best experiences of our lives with Outlook Safaris. The first safari we took was the Classic 7 Day Kruger Park Safari, and this January/February we enjoyed the 5 Day Explorer Safari. Both safaris were wonderful and we were able to see many of the “harder to find” animals. The staff is enthusiastic about their jobs and it shows. Their excitement is only outdone by their knowledge of the bush.I would recommend also an overnight at Outlook Lodge on your return to Johannesburg where Chef and Manager Francois will pamper you with wonderful meals. The downy beds and intimate surroundings are refreshing after a soujourn in the bush. All in all, an experience never to be missed.

An Incredible Company

An incredible company. Debbie the guide and also game driver has a wealth of knowledge and passion for the wilderness like no other. Being a single female traveller, I felt completely safe. All the staff are friendly, the meals delicious and the experience is second to none! The game drive vehicles are large enough to feel safe but small enough to have an intimate experience with the animals.

4 Day Safari Wonder

We just finished a 4 day safari and had a wonderful time. Our guide Joostie was a riot. It was completely worry- free and that was exactly what we were looking for. Outlook Safaris took care of everything.
