Encounter South Africa’s marvellous Big Five on a 3 Day Kruger Classic Safari, which includes three exciting open vehicle, wildlife safaris and a SANParks Sunset Drive where you can see the Kruger National Park’s nocturnal wildlife. As we always say here in the bush, the more time you spend on a Kruger wildlife safari, the better your chances of coming across a memorable sighting!
We also give you the opportunity to visit select attractions along the Panorama Route instead of joining the game drives on that day. Attractions along the route include Lisbon Falls, Three Rondavels in the Blyde River Canyon and God’s Window, where you’ll get to experience some of the most magnificent sights in the country. This optional excursion is only available for our Kruger Park safaris of 3 Days or more.
To further complement your stay, yummy, wholesome breakfasts and dinners give you enough time to chat to and get to know your fellow travelers. Evenings in the Kruger are especially delightful with a glass of wine in-hand, the starry sky above you and sounds of the bush around you.
Vehicles Used On A Classic Kruger Safari
Get ready to travel from one location to another in complete safety and comfort! Your transportation to and from the airport and to the Kruger National Park is a 12-seater bus. On your Kruger safari, game drives are done in open safari vehicles, which really enhances your game viewing experience.
Accommodation On A Classic Kruger National Park Safari
On our Classic Kruger Safaris, you’ll be able to enjoy a well-deserved night of sleep in en-suite chalets. Each one has beds, linen, soap and towels, as well as air conditioning, mosquito proofing on the doors and windows, and a small fridge.
Day 1: Gauteng to Kruger National Park
On the morning of your transfer to Kruger Park, guests that are not staying at Outlook Lodge O.R. Tambo in Johannesburg will be picked up from their specific collection point between 06:00 and 07:00. We begin our journey to the park soon after.
During the drive – which takes several hours – guests will get to see a good mix of scenery, including urban areas, open fields and mountainous terrain. On the way to the Kruger, we will stop for lunch (own expense) and allow guests to stretch their legs.
Once you arrive at our camp, located inside the Kruger, you’ll be welcomed by the camp manager before being taken to your chalet. Your first game drive (unless otherwise stated) is a SANParks Sunset Drive, which is done by SANParks in their vehicle. What’s great about this drive is the fact that SANParks’ guides are allowed to return after the gate closes, which allows you to try and find the wildlife that are mostly (or only) active at night. (With this, it’s important to note that children that are six-years-old or younger are not permitted on open vehicle drives.)
After your drive, you’ll join your fellow Kruger wildlife safari guests in our dining tent for a delicious dinner, prepared by our talented chefs. Enjoy a glass of wine, chat to your fellow guests and guides about what you saw on your drive and take in the beauty of the Park at night. Should you prefer something other than wine, the Kruger Park’s shop has a great selection of alternative drinks available for purchase. (Dinner Included)
Day 2: A Full Day in the Kruger National Park
Early starts are an essential part of your Kruger Park safari. Having said this, the exact time that you leave on your game drive is dependent on camp gate opening times (which varies depending on the season). You’ll grab a quick cup of tea or coffee and a snack before leaving the camp. During your drive, which is usually about 3 to 4 hours long, guests will get to learn more about the Park, the wildlife and the flora, as well as try and spot the Big Five!
Then it’ll be time for a tasty brunch back at the camp, followed by some leisure time. Pretoriuskop Camp has a pool, so guests can go for a swim, pick up a few curios at the Park’s shop, catch up on some much-needed sleep or take a leisurely stroll around the camp.
Your afternoon Kruger wildlife safari is with us in our specially-adapted, open game drive vehicle, where your guide will use their knowledge of the Park to try and find the sightings that you hope to experience.
As per the previous evening, dinner takes place in our communal dining tent, where you’ll get to sample some of the best cuisine around. (Breakfast & Dinner Included)
Day 3: Kruger Park to Gauteng
The last day of your Kruger Park safari begins with an early morning game drive, where you’ll, hopefully, be able to find the wildlife that you have not yet seen. On your return to camp, guests will enjoy a tasty breakfast before the journey back to Johannesburg. The drive takes approximately 6 hours, which is why guests are advised to stay over in Johannesburg on this night. (Breakfast Included)
The Panorama Route (Optional Excursion)
To give our guests the best possible experience while on safari with us, we offer an optional excursion to several attractions along the well-known Panorama Route. Expect to see the Blyde River Canyon, Three Rondavels, Lisbon Falls and God’s Window.
As the excursion takes several hours and is outside the Kruger National Park, it replaces your game drives for the day that you choose to do it, however, it is free of charge and is coordinated by our staff. (Please note that it is not available on the first or last day of your Kruger Classic Safari due to time constraints.)

On our Kruger Classic Safaris, we make use of facilities and accommodation situated inside the Kruger National Park and do not stay outside Kruger, unless forced to do so because of availability.
It is important to note that this is not a private safari and there will probably be other guests joining you on the game drive vehicles, air-conditioned mini bus transfer vehicles as well as in the dining facility.
Please note that Sunset Drive times are subject to change and availability on the day. These drives are conducted by SANParks, by one of their rangers and in one of their vehicles. There will most likely be other guests on this drive. Children under 6 years of age are not allowed on SANParks’ open safari vehicles.
Although we welcome children on our Kruger Park safaris, we reserve the right not to allow younger children on our normal game drives. This will entirely be at the guide’s discretion and is done to ensure a pleasurable Kruger safari for all our guests (including the parents). Should this be the case, a bush bumble (kiddies game drive) will be conducted after the normal game drive, especially for the kids. We do not offer babysitting services and, as such, one of the parents will have to stay behind to watch the children. Private safaris for families can be arranged at an extra charge.
Guests flying out of O.R. Tambo International Airport on the last day are reminded to not book any flights earlier than 19:00 (domestic) or 20:00 (international) in order to give us enough time to get you to the airport. We recommend that you rather stay over in Johannesburg if possible. Since we cannot guarantee our arrival time in Johannesburg on the last day, we will not be held responsible for reimbursements of flight tickets, should we arrive later than expected. Guests flying out of Nelspruit on the last day may, depending on their flight details, not have enough time to do the Panorama Route. Private transfers for guests with early flights can be arranged in advance, at an extra charge.
Wonderful 3 Day Safari
I went on Safari with Outlook Safaris in June last year on part of a year out. Everything about the company was perfect, even before booking everything was very well taken care of. When I initially emailed with questions I was replied to very quickly and all the information I received was very useful, Robert was very patient with me. The drivers who picked me up in Jo’Burg were very friendly and professional and made the journey up to the Kruger Park very pleasant. I stayed in the most basic accommodation provided but it had all I needed including a fan and heater because the temperature varied so much. The Skukuza Park is stunning, with beautiful birds, baboons all wandering around. The game drives were amazing.
I just want to say that this was one of the most awesome experiences I’ve had. From the moment I first arrived until the sad last day I had to leave was amazing. Moss driving our group to Kruger National Park that first morning. Not sure if it was the early hour, but everyone was quiet and either looking out of the window, listening to their ipod, or getting some more sleep. I wasn’t sure what to expect. After our first stop for gas and snack some conversations started. By the end of the trip, I really missed seeing everyone every day and sharing those wonderful memories. I had such a good time building friendships and sharing laughs. I think I enjoyed making those new friends as much as seeing all of those wonderful animals in their own environment.

Both my husband and myself have traveled extensively and have had unquestionably one of the best experiences of our lives with Outlook Safaris. The first safari we took was the Classic 7 Day Kruger Park Safari, and this January/February we enjoyed the 5 Day Explorer Safari. Both safaris were wonderful and we were able to see many of the “harder to find” animals. The staff is enthusiastic about their jobs and it shows. Their excitement is only outdone by their knowledge of the bush.I would recommend also an overnight at Outlook Lodge on your return to Johannesburg where Chef and Manager Francois will pamper you with wonderful meals. The downy beds and intimate surroundings are refreshing after a soujourn in the bush. All in all, an experience never to be missed.

An Incredible Company
An incredible company. Debbie the guide and also game driver has a wealth of knowledge and passion for the wilderness like no other. Being a single female traveller, I felt completely safe. All the staff are friendly, the meals delicious and the experience is second to none! The game drive vehicles are large enough to feel safe but small enough to have an intimate experience with the animals.

4 Day Safari Wonder
We just finished a 4 day safari and had a wonderful time. Our guide Joostie was a riot. It was completely worry- free and that was exactly what we were looking for. Outlook Safaris took care of everything.
