3 Day Classic Kruger Safari
Be amazed by the Big Five on a 3 Day Classic Kruger Safari with three open vehicle, authentic wildlife safaris and a SANParks Sunset Drive, which will also give you the opportunity to see nocturnal animals. There are, however, never any guarantees so the more time you spend on a Kruger wildlife safari, the better!
On one of the days, you’ll have the option of visiting select attractions along the Panorama Route instead of joining the game drives on that day (this is not applicable to our 2 Day Kruger safari though). We visit Lisbon Falls, Three Rondavels in the Blyde River Canyon and God’s Window, which provide some of the most magnificent scenery in the country.
Delicious breakfasts and dinners give you ample time to get to know your fellow travelers and exchange stories. At night, we share a bottle of wine around the campfire and listen to the sounds of the bush around us.
Vehicles Used On A Classic Kruger Safari
Transfers from and to the airport, as well as to the Kruger National Park, is in a 12-seater bus, and game drives take place in open safari vehicles so as to offer the best possible game viewing experience. The vehicles provide guests with the highest possible levels of safety and comfort.
Accommodation On A Classic Kruger National Park Safari
Accommodation on the Classic Kruger Safari is in en-suite chalets with beds, linen, towels and soap. The chalets also have a small fridge, air conditioning and mosquito proofing on the doors and windows.
Day 1: Gauteng to Kruger National Park
We leave on your Kruger Park safari from Johannesburg in the early morning to allow for various collection points. The route to your African safari takes us through the Highveld with its wide open spaces, down the escarpment and through the scenic Lowveld area. En-route to the Kruger National Park, we stop for lunch (own expense).
You will go out on your first Kruger safari (a SANParks Sunset Drive) after settling into your accommodation. A sunset drive affords you the opportunity to see the nocturnal Kruger wildlife. The Kruger Park’s rangers are allowed to return after the normal gate closing times and because this is not a private Kruger safari, other guests may be joining you on the drive. (Children under 6 years of age are not permitted on open vehicle drives.)
A three-course dinner will be served al fresco in the evening (weather permitting), at our camp. Wine is served with dinner but guests are welcome to bring along additional/alternative drinks which can be purchased at Kruger Park’s shop.
Day 2: A Full Day in the Kruger National Park
Kruger Park safaris are all about early mornings, and getting out there and seeing the animals! The time you go on your wildlife safari varies according to the seasons and camp gate opening times. We have tea or coffee with snacks before departing on the game drive, which will take approximately 3 to 4 hours. Your guide has an intimate knowledge of Kruger Park, which contributes a great deal towards brilliant sightings!
On your return to camp, brunch will be ready. You’ll then have time to enjoy a swim, visit Kruger Park’s shop, which includes African curios, general food items and drinks, relax in your Kruger chalet, take a walk around the camp. Oh and be sure to bring your binoculars, the Kruger National Park is a bird watcher’s paradise!
After your leisure time, we set off on your afternoon Kruger wildlife safari. We conduct all our Kruger safaris in specially adapted 4×4 open game drive vehicles to allow our guests the best possible vantage point. We then share African safari stories under the stars after a scrumptious dinner served at our camp.
(Breakfast & Dinner included)
Day 3: Kruger Park to Gauteng
The final day of your Kruger Park safari will be your last chance to see the Big Five animals that have eluded you thus far. After breakfast, we return to Johannesburg. The drive back takes at least 6 hours and guests are advised to sleep over in Johannesburg on this night.
The Panorama Route (optional excursion)
We offer an optional excursion to visit select attractions along the Panorama Route in all of our Kruger safaris that are three days or longer, like the Blyde River Canyon, Three Rondavels, Lisbon Falls and God’s Window. This excursion is available free of charge, and replaces your game drives for that day. It will be coordinated by our staff while you are on your wildlife safari with us. (Kindly note that this excursion is not available on the first or last day of your Classic Kruger Safari due to time constraints.)
