This is a truly South African safari where you can see Big Five animals as well as hippo, hyena, kudu, giraffe, zebra and so much more on three open vehicle wildlife safaris and a SANParks Sunset Drive. There are, however, never any guarantees so the more time you spend on a Kruger wildlife safari, the better!
On one of the days, you’ll have the option of visiting select attractions along the Panorama Route instead of joining the game drives on that day (this is not applicable to our 2 Day Kruger safari though). We visit Lisbon Falls, Three Rondavels in the Blyde River Canyon and God’s Window, which provide some of the most magnificent scenery in the country.
Delicious breakfasts and dinners give you ample time to get to know your fellow travelers and exchange stories. At night, we share a bottle of wine around the campfire and listen to the sounds of the bush around us.
Accommodation On A Kruger National Park Camping Safari
While you’re on your Kruger camping safari, you’ll be staying in Meru tents. These come equipped with beds and matresses, plus, we provide you with pillows, duvets, linen and amenities. As for the ablutions, they are serviced by SANParks and shared by all the camping guests.
Vehicles Used On A Kruger Camping Safari
Your transport to and from the Kruger National Park and the airport is in a 12-seater bus. For your game drive, we take you in open safari vehicles, which are designed with comfort in mind and to ensure that you see all that you need to on the drive.
Day 1: Gauteng to Kruger National Park
We want to get the earliest possible start on your Kruger camping safari, so we pick up our guests and leave our departure point at Outlook Lodge O.R. Tambo between 06:00 and 07:00 on the first morning of your safari. The road journey is lengthy but it showcases the various aspects of South Africa’s diverse beauty. We make one stop en-route to your African safari in the Kruger National Park, where you can grab something tasty for lunch (own expense).
Shortly after arriving, you’ll go on a SANParks Sunset Drive, unless you’re told otherwise by our team. Its value lies in the fact that while all tour operators and guests have to be back at camp before the gate closes, the Park’s rangers do not. There are many magnificent species of wildlife that come out mostly at night, and you’ll hopefully be able to see them on this drive. (Please keep in mind that this is not a private safari and that children younger than 6 years of age won’t be allowed on the open vehicle game drives.)
After a thrilling drive, you’ll return to our camp for dinner. Our chefs prepare all the cuisine with love and care, and will introduce themselves as well as what will be served. To complement your meal, there’s red wine… however, you can purchase alternative drinks at the camp shop, should you prefer something different. (Dinner Included)
Day 2: A Full Day in the Kruger National Park
While you’re on your Kruger wildlife safari with us, we want you to see and experience as much as possible, so early mornings are a given! Better still, you’ll get to enjoy a strong cup of tea or coffee and a light snack before the drive. Due to the fact that the camp gate opens at different times during each season, the time we leave varies. We spend several hours out in the bush, learning about the flora and fauna in the Kruger National Park and, of course, eagerly anticipating those incredible sightings.
Brunch will be ready for you when you get back to camp and, after filling up on all that delicious food, you’ll have some free time. Pretoriuskop has an amazing pool so you could go for a swim, explore the camp or visit the curio shop and pick up a few Kruger Park momentos. You might even see birds flying about or several species of mongoose scurrying around the camp, so be sure to have your camera on hand.
Later on in the day, you’ll embark on your afternoon Kruger Park safari. With our 4×4, open game drive vehicle, you’ll have an unhindered view of the park and the various wildlife, which further enhances your safari experience. In the evening, you’ll get to chat to your guides and fellow guests about the day’s events over a tasty dinner and a glass or two of wine. (Breakfast & Dinner Included)
Day 3: From Kruger Park to Gauteng
This morning of your Kruger Park safari will be your final chance to try and spot the wildlife that you have not checked off your must-see list as yet. Following your game drive, breakfast will be served and then it’ll be time to head back to Johannesburg. Because the drive takes several hours and our arrival time varies, we usually advise our guests to stay over in Joburg that evening. (Breakfast Included)
Panorama Route (Optional Excursion)
There’s plenty to see around the Kruger National Park as well, which is why we give our guests the option of doing the Panorama Route (applicable to all our Kruger safaris that are 3 days or more). We visit a number of attractions along the route, such as the Blyde River Canyon, Three Rondavels, Lisbon Falls and God’s Window. While this excursion is free of charge, it will have to replace your game drives for that day. Our staff will also coordinate this for you while you’re on your Kruger wildlife safari with us, but you won’t be able to do the excursion on the first or last day of your Kruger camping safari due to time constraints.

On our Camping Kruger Safaris, we make use of facilities and accommodation situated inside the Kruger National Park and do not stay outside Kruger, unless forced to do so because of availability.
It is important to note that this is not a private safari and there will probably be other guests joining you on the game drive vehicles, air-conditioned mini bus transfer vehicles as well as in the dining facility.
Please note that Sunset Drive times are subject to change and availability on the day. These drives are conducted by SANParks, by one of their rangers and in one of their vehicles. There will most likely be other guests on this drive. Children under 6 years of age are not allowed on SANParks’ open safari vehicles.
Although we welcome children on our Kruger Park safaris, we reserve the right not to allow younger children on our normal game drives. This will entirely be at the guide’s discretion and is done to ensure a pleasurable Kruger safari for all our guests (including the parents). Should this be the case, a bush bumble (kiddies game drive) will be conducted after the normal game drive, especially for the kids. We do not offer babysitting services and, as such, one of the parents will have to stay behind to watch the children. Private safaris for families can be arranged at an extra charge.
Guests flying out of O.R. Tambo International Airport on the last day are reminded to not book any flights earlier than 19:00 (domestic) or 20:00 (international) in order to give us enough time to get you to the airport. We recommend that you rather stay over in Johannesburg if possible. Since we cannot guarantee our arrival time in Johannesburg on the last day, we will not be held responsible for reimbursements of flight tickets, should we arrive later than expected. Guests flying out of Nelspruit on the last day may, depending on their flight details, not have enough time to do the Panorama Route. Private transfers for guests with early flights can be arranged in advance, at an extra charge.
Wonderful 3 Day Safari
I went on Safari with Outlook Safaris in June last year on part of a year out. Everything about the company was perfect, even before booking everything was very well taken care of. When I initially emailed with questions I was replied to very quickly and all the information I received was very useful, Robert was very patient with me. The drivers who picked me up in Jo’Burg were very friendly and professional and made the journey up to the Kruger Park very pleasant. I stayed in the most basic accommodation provided but it had all I needed including a fan and heater because the temperature varied so much. The Skukuza Park is stunning, with beautiful birds, baboons all wandering around. The game drives were amazing.
I just want to say that this was one of the most awesome experiences I’ve had. From the moment I first arrived until the sad last day I had to leave was amazing. Moss driving our group to Kruger National Park that first morning. Not sure if it was the early hour, but everyone was quiet and either looking out of the window, listening to their ipod, or getting some more sleep. I wasn’t sure what to expect. After our first stop for gas and snack some conversations started. By the end of the trip, I really missed seeing everyone every day and sharing those wonderful memories. I had such a good time building friendships and sharing laughs. I think I enjoyed making those new friends as much as seeing all of those wonderful animals in their own environment.

Both my husband and myself have traveled extensively and have had unquestionably one of the best experiences of our lives with Outlook Safaris. The first safari we took was the Classic 7 Day Kruger Park Safari, and this January/February we enjoyed the 5 Day Explorer Safari. Both safaris were wonderful and we were able to see many of the “harder to find” animals. The staff is enthusiastic about their jobs and it shows. Their excitement is only outdone by their knowledge of the bush.I would recommend also an overnight at Outlook Lodge on your return to Johannesburg where Chef and Manager Francois will pamper you with wonderful meals. The downy beds and intimate surroundings are refreshing after a soujourn in the bush. All in all, an experience never to be missed.

An Incredible Company
An incredible company. Debbie the guide and also game driver has a wealth of knowledge and passion for the wilderness like no other. Being a single female traveller, I felt completely safe. All the staff are friendly, the meals delicious and the experience is second to none! The game drive vehicles are large enough to feel safe but small enough to have an intimate experience with the animals.

4 Day Safari Wonder
We just finished a 4 day safari and had a wonderful time. Our guide Joostie was a riot. It was completely worry- free and that was exactly what we were looking for. Outlook Safaris took care of everything.
