Be amazed by elephant, buffalo, lion, hippo, leopard, hyena, kudu, giraffe, zebra and so much more on three open vehicle wildlife safaris and a SANParks Sunset Drive (which gives you the opportunity to see nocturnal South African wildlife) on our Budget Kruger Safari. Remember, there are never any guarantees so the more time you spend on a 3 Day Budget Kruger Safari, the better!
You can also visit Lisbon Falls, Three Rondavels in the Blyde River Canyon and God’s Window along the Panorama Route, instead of joining the game drives on that day (this is not applicable to our 2 Day Kruger National Park safaris though).
Delicious breakfasts and dinners give you ample time to get to know your fellow travelers and exchange stories. At night, we share a bottle of wine around the campfire and listen to the sounds of the bush around us.
Vehicles Used On A Budget Kruger Safari
Transfers from and to the airport, as well as to the Kruger National Park, is in a 12-seater bus, and game drives take place in open safari vehicles, offering the best possible game viewing experience. The vehicles provide guests with the highest possible levels of safety and comfort.
Accommodation On A Budget Kruger National Park Safari
Accommodation on our Budget Kruger Safari is in huts with beds, linen, towels and soap. Ablutions are shared and serviced regularly. The huts also have a small fridge and mosquito proofing on the doors and windows.
Day 1: Johannesburg to Kruger National Park
We leave on your Kruger Park safari from Johannesburg in the early morning to allow for various collection points. The route to your African safari takes us through the Highveld with its wide open spaces, down the escarpment and through the scenic Lowveld area. En-route to the Kruger National Park, we stop for lunch (own expense).
You will go out on your first Kruger safari (a SANParks Sunset Drive) after settling into your accommodation. A sunset drive affords you the opportunity to see nocturnal Kruger wildlife. The Kruger Park’s rangers are allowed to return after the normal gate closing times, and because this is not a private Kruger wildlife safari, other guests may be joining you on the drive. (Children under 6 years of age are not permitted on open vehicle drives.)
A three-course dinner will be served al fresco in the evening (weather permitting), at our camp. Wine is served with dinner but guests are welcome to bring along additional/alternative drinks which can be purchased at Kruger Park’s shop.
Day 2: A Full Day in Kruger Park
Kruger Park safaris are all about early mornings, and getting out there and seeing the wildlife! The time you go on your wildlife safari varies according to the seasons and camp gate opening times. We have tea or coffee with snacks before departing on the game drive, which will take approximately 3 to 4 hours. Your guide has an intimate knowledge of Kruger Park, which contributes a great deal towards brilliant sightings!
On your return to camp, brunch will be ready. You’ll then have time to enjoy a swim, visit Kruger Park’s shop, which includes African curios, general food items and drinks, take a walk around the camp, or simply relax in your chalet. And be sure to bring your binoculars – the Kruger National Park is a bird watcher’s paradise!
After your leisure time, we set off on the afternoon Kruger wildlife safari. We conduct all our Kruger safaris in specially adapted 4×4 open game drive vehicles to allow our guests the best possible vantage point. We then share African safari stories under the stars after a scrumptious dinner served at our camp.
(Breakfast & Dinner included)
Day 3: Kruger Park to Gauteng
The final day of your Kruger Park safari will be your last chance to see the Big 5 safari animals that have eluded you thus far. After breakfast, we return to Johannesburg. The drive back takes at least 6 hours and guests are advised to sleep over in Johannesburg on this night.
The Panorama Route (optional excursion)
We offer an optional excursion to visit select attractions along the Panorama Route in all of our Kruger safaris that are three days or longer. You’ll get to see the Blyde River Canyon, Three Rondavels, Lisbon Falls and God’s Window. This excursion is available free of charge, and replaces your game drives for that day. It will be coordinated by our staff while you are on your wildlife safari with us. (Kindly note that this excursion is not available on the first or last day of your Budget Kruger Safari due to time constraints.)

On our Budget Kruger Safaris, we make use of facilities and accommodation situated inside the Kruger National Park and do not stay outside Kruger, unless forced to do so because of availability.
It is important to note that this is not a private safari and more than likely there will be other guests joining you on the game drive vehicles, air-conditioned mini bus transfer vehicles as well as in the dining facility.
Please note that Sunset Drive times are subject to change and availability on the day. These drives are conducted by SANParks, by one of their rangers and in one of their vehicles. There will most likely be other guests on this drive. Children under 6 years of age are not allowed on SANParks’ open safari vehicles.
Although we welcome children on our Kruger Park safaris, we reserve the right not to allow younger children on our normal game drives. This will entirely be at the guide’s discretion and is done to ensure a pleasurable Kruger safari for all our guests (including the parents). Should this be the case, a bush bumble (kiddies game drive) will be conducted after the normal game drive, especially for the kids. We do not offer babysitting services and, as such, one of the parents will have to stay behind to watch the children. Private safaris for families can be arranged at an extra charge.
Guests flying out of O.R. Tambo International Airport on the last day are reminded to not book any flights earlier than 19:00 (domestic) or 20:00 (international) in order to give us enough time to get you to the airport. We recommend that you rather stay over in Johannesburg if possible. Since we cannot guarantee our arrival time in Johannesburg on the last day, we will not be held responsible for reimbursements of flight tickets, should we arrive later than expected. Guests flying out of Nelspruit on the last day may, depending on their flight details, not have enough time to do the Panorama Route. Private transfers for guests with early flights can be arranged in advance, at an extra charge.
