How To Make The Most Of Your Kruger Safari

You’ve done it! All those months of careful planning, putting away as much money as you could spare and spending endless hours on the Internet researching South Africa have come to fruition … your highly-anticipated Kruger safari is now just around the corner. We’re willing to bet that you’ll want to make the most of your experience while you’re here, so we’ve come up with a few tips for you.

A Natural Gem

We may be just a little biased when we say this, but the Kruger National Park is easily one of the most alluring, raw, untamed places on Earth! Having said that, if it’s your first time in the Kruger, you’ll probably want to experience as much as possible, which can also leave you feeling overwhelmed. However, there’s no need to fret – we’ve come up with four simple ways to ensure that this is a trip you’ll never forget!

Preparation

Let’s be honest – one can only prepare so much. But that doesn’t mean we won’t try and cover the basics at least. Since you may be out in the sun, eagerly searching for South African wildlife, it’s important to pack a hat, sunnies, sunblock, comfy shoes and binoculars. Plus, the weather can vary quite a lot while you’re on your safari, so be sure to pack a warm jacket as well.

And the preparation doesn’t stop there. It’s definitely a good idea to perhaps take out travel insurance before you leave, give your loved ones the contact details for the company you’ll be safariing with and, perhaps, ask questions or read up on SA and the Kruger camp you’ll be staying at too. As for the rest of it, we’ll just go with the flow…

Take a (slight) Social Media Sabbatical

Yes, we fully understand what we’re asking you to do here but we’re not saying stay off from Social Media completely, just as much as possible. Now don’t get us wrong, we love it when our guests share their sightings with us on Facebook and Instagram but we just don’t want you to be so focused on enjoying the experience for Social Media that you don’t enjoy it for yourself … if you know what we mean.

After all, some sightings turn out to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience! So take your photos and definitely keep in touch with loved ones, but we’re pretty sure that the latest gossip on Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez can wait until after your safari.

Exude Enthusiasm

Basically … smile at everyone (even if they don’t smile back, and the truth is, they might not), get excited, ask your safari guides as much as you can, look for the silver lining in every situation and be open to trying new things. We’re almost certain that if you do, your safari experience will be as amazing as you want it to be.

Step Outside your Comfort Zone

In our experience, the amazing and equally frightening thing about travelling to a new country is that, at some point, you may have to step out of your comfort zone.

Now we’re not talking about anything hectic here, just the small things, like opening up and chatting to new people, looking at something from a different point of view (perspective is everything!) or trying a dish that you might not have at home. More often than not, you’ll be super glad you did.

And that’s it!! Have a SUPER safari…
